Description

An outstanding group of abstract expressionist paintings on loan from the Blaffer Foundation in Houston represents one of the powerfully original and influential episodes in American art. The "New York School" of artists emerged after World War II; major figures represented in the exhibition include Willem De Kooning, Franz Kline, Mark Rothko, Robert Motherwell, and Helen Frankenthalier. Robert Hughes, Time magazine art critic, will speak on October 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Woodruff Auditorium and KU in conjunction with the opening of the exhibition.
