Description

Selections from the Edward L. Elliott Family and John B. Elliott Collections, organized for exhibition at Princeton University, are among the finest examples of Chinese art in the world. The collections systematically explore the close relationship of Chinese painting to calligraphy during the last thousand years. The seventy masterpieces on view include 43 hanging scrolls, 15 handscrolls, 10 albums, and 2 fans. A catalogue, with a book length introduction by Wen C. Fong, Sanford Professor of Art History at Princeton University, is available. Professor Fong will speak at the Spencer Museum at the opening of the exhibition on January 13.
