Description

The development of poster art in the Netherlands has been virtually unknown in America. This exhibition is and introduction to an individual, diverse, and exceptionally beautiful body of work. Containing 100 posters by some 70 designers, the exhibition reveals the sensibility of art in Holland-- sober yet rich in visual and symbolic fantasy-- while surveying the history of the Dutch poster from its origins to the onset of the Second World War. organized by the Krannert Art Museum at the University of Illinois, the exhibition is supported in part by a grant from the Print and Publicity Foundation of Amsterdam.
