Description

Marie Daugherty Webster (1859-1956) of Marion, Indiana was a major influence on quilt design in the 20th century. She was also the author of the first published full-length history of quilts, Quilts, Their Story and How to Make Them (1915). This exhibition includes eighteen examples of Webster's softly colored appliqued quilts, which appeared in leading women's magazines of the 1920s and were widely copied by quilters. Organized by the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
