The annual exhibition in conjunction with the Lawrence Indian Arts Show. The 40 works ranged from ancient pots to 19th century examples to works from contemporary pueblos by living artists. They were borrowed from the KU Museum of Anthropology and Kansas City area private collections and organized by Stephen Smith, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation research assistant. Included were works by Maria Martinez and her family, artists from the San Ildefonso Pueblo who are well known for their black on clack decorated vessels. Other pueblos represented were Acoma, Cochiti, Hopi, Laguna, Picarus, San Juan, Santa Clara, Santo Domingo, Zia, and Zuni.
