Kansas Chapter of the American Planning Association is hosting the 2016 Annual Kansas Planning Conference October 6-7 at The Oread Hotel in Lawrence, Kansas. Hundreds of planners, planning commissioners, and other professionals from across the state of Kansas and the Kansas City Metro Area will come for educational sessions, networking, and information sharing. A special art installation courtesy of the Spencer Museum of Art will be at the conference reception Thursday, October 6th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. At the reception, “The Path of Thought” by Mexican artist Nacho Rodriguez Bach will be on display at the Cider Gallery, 810 Pennsylvania Street. This piece of art is particularly of interest to planners because it addresses matters of community and what it means to be an individual in a community. The work of planners is helping cities think through the future consequences of present actions. “The Path of Thought” inspires reflection on issue planners confront in their day-to-day work engaging with citizens.
