Dias de los Muertos is a time during the first two days of November when Mexicans remember their dead. This observance has roots in indigenous American and European traditions. Mexicans commemorate their deceased loved ones by decorating graves and altars, and sharing food with the spirits of the dead.

The exhibit features an ofrenda (altar), wood toys, calaveras (skeltons), photographs, papel picado (cut-paper design), and handmade Mexican crafts. Guided tours are available upon request. For Douglas County schools there is no charge but there is a $2.00 charge per student for school groups outside the county, To schedule tours please contact the Watkins Community Museum of History at (785) 841-4019
