Description

A survey of the complete range of printmaking in Mexico from the 1920s to the 1950s in 125 works by more than 40 artists. The exhibition reveals the Mexican artists’ characteristic synthesis of indigenous subjects and European stylistic influences, including Surrealism and Cubism. Includes powerful and often politically charged works in various printmaking techniques by artists Elizabeth Catlett, Frida Kahlo, José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Rufino Tamayo, and others.
