Description

This exhibition presents a selection of works borrowed from a private collector who has been acquiring American Indian art for the past 40 years. It features works from a wide variety of tribes and in many media, including ancient and early 20th century pottery, weavings, tabletas, baskets, silver, turquoise, and an altar from the Southwest, 19th and 20th century beadwork, German silver, textiles, and a pipe from the Plains, a pipe and moccasins from the northeast, and a beaded jacket, oil dish, jewelry and masks from the Northwest Coast. The exhibition was organized by Director Andrea S. Norris in conjunction with the annual Lawrence Indian Arts Show, a citywide celebration.
