Student Juried Show "Constructing Reality"
  • Student Juried Show "Constructing Reality"
  • 03-Apr-2014 - 18-May-2014
  • 3C1 Lobby & Hallway, Spencer Museum of Art, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas

This theme is inspired by the James Turrell: Gard Blue exhibition currently on view at the Spencer. This year’s theme is based on a quote from Turrell: “My work is about how we construct reality,” he has said. “The real illusion is that we aren’t aware of how we give reality to things. We have awarded them concreteness or reality and are unaware of how we’ve done that.”

The student work in this exhibition was selected by a committee of students on the Spencer Museum of Art Student Advisory Board. KU students were encouraged to submit works that engage in dialogue with the theme of "Constructing Reality."
