Painted scene of figures and buildings in a landscape (identified as Padua). There is a full-length female figure in orange and red standing next to a child with a pole in the bottom center. In the lower left of the painting is a structure with Doric columns (portico) behind a woman bending in water. Behind the columns there is a long barrel-vaulted roof (identified as the Palazzo Ragione). There are buildings, church spires and domes (identified as S. Guistina and the Portello). There are more ruins on the right third of the painting, including a lion statue. Groups of figures are depicted in the bottom right quadrant and there are buildings in the background including the church of S. Giustina, the Palazzo Ragione, and the gatehouse of the Porta Ponte Corvo across the Brenta canal, locally known as the Portello.
