Description

Half length portrait of a man in 3/4 profile. The slightly balding man looks across his left shoulder with his left hand on his hip. The thumb, index and middle finger of his left hand are outstretched. His right arm is slightly bent at the elbow. He wears a falling ruff, button lined garment and sash tied around the waist. He stands against a non-descript background. A cropped window with a landscape view appears on the right side of the composition. The inscription identifies the sitter as Quintinus Simons.
