Two kabuki actors against a neutral background. Danjuro VII at lower center of composition, an axe at the right. He swings the axe towards Kikunojo V, who is in a kneeling position at the upper left. She is dressed in elaborate robes that make her appear as if she is flying. Text at the upper right, lower left, and lower right.
