Description

Seated in middle on top of large box, Amakawaya Gihei, a merchant of sakai, is surrounded by Rōnin disguised as policemen. Rōnin in bottom left corner threaten to kill Yoshimatsu, son of Gihei. Garden in back, night scene. Rōnin and white border.
Possibly made to commemorate the play Chūshingura which played at the Ichiwaya theatre in Edo, starting the 5th month of 1858.
