Catalogue raisonné

Two hakutōō in a locquat tree. One eats fruit in the bottom right quadrant, while the other watches from a branch textured in broad gray lines in the left third of the composition. Leaves and fruits at bottom center. Rare scene of imported Chinese birds. Published originally in book form with two parts showing Chinese merchants bringing rare birds to Japan. Bokashi (tonal shading) in red and green of background, as well as fine color gradiation of leaves.
