A tall rectangular three story limestone house with many windows in a snowy landscape. Tree growing on left hand side of the composition.

Built in 1858, the "Old Castle," as it was called, is said to be the oldest college building in Kansas. It was erected one block east of the Baker campus. For many years it was at once the college, the church, the town hall and the lyceum. Here were held religious revivals, political rallies, and school exhibitions. In the spring of 1871 the students moved from this building into the new Science Hall on the campus.
