A man riding a white horse, wearing a red uniform, and carrying a flag with blue, white, and red horizontal stripes stabs at another horse rider wearing a blue uniform. The flag has text on the center stripe reading “Ayer’s Pills.” The fight is taking place on a battlefield. Below this picture is the text “The Fight for the Standard.”
The verso is a text advertisement acknowledging the success of Ayer’s Pills as the standard cathartic medicine of the age. It lists all the ailments which can be cured by taking the pills.
