This is an allegorical scene of two despairing human figures sitting by a small body of water, perhaps a stream or a pond. One of the figures is in an earthen hut and the other is outside, closer to the water. There are gnarled trees and undergrowth populated with forest animals. There are human bones lying on the ground and two dancing skeletons in a tree.
