A view of the sedilia located in the chancel of Chester Cathedral. The sedilia are the seats where the priest and his assistants sit during the mass. There are four seats, in which each seat is surmounted with its own canopy. Each canopy includes a tall pinnacle that is ornately decorated. The base of each canopy appears to be a pointed archway that projects outward.
