Description

Architectural view of the pulpit of Notre Dame Basilica Bonsecours near Rouen. Two pointed Gothic arches frame the area designated for the pulpit. Made out of wood, this Gothic pulpit consists of a canopy, two curved staircases, and four seated figures, which comprise the base of the structure. The first and second level of the canopy contains a series of faux-lancet windows, while trefoil arches comprise the third level. Scenes of the life of Christ decorate the banister. Three male figures in various forms of reading and writing form the base of the pulpit. Omitted by this particular view is a fourth figure, which can be seen from the back. These figures represent the four doctors of the Catholic Church.
