Architectural view of a capital at the Palazzo Ducale (The Doge's Palace) in Venice, Italy. This particular capital depicts the planets and zodiac. The central facing figure depicts the moon and the sign of Cancer. The long-haired woman stands in a boat holding a crescent moon in her right hand. In her left hand, she holds a crab. To the left of this scene is the portrayal of Mercurius (Mercury) and Gemini. The woman holds an open book outstretched towards the figures on either side of her, one of the left and two on the right (the twins corresponding to the Gemini zodiac). To the right of the moon and Cancer figure is a scene that correlates to the planet Earth. This scene depicts the moment when God creates Adam and Eve.
