Inscriptions/Signature

A man in the center wearing a red and black uniform with gold colored buttons and belt. A blue overcoat is draped around his shoulders and he wears a blue hat. He is pointing with his proper right hand and is facing toward his right. On the facing left side in the background is a black horse that another soldier is holding the reins of. On the facing right side in the foreground is a tripod stand holding a rolled map labeled "Verdun".
