In the center is a man wearing a dark suit with a jacket and cuffs decorated with a vegetal pattern. In his proper right hand he holds a black, feathered hat at his hip. In his proper left hand he holds a cane and a red book. On his proper left side he also has a thin sword hanging from his waist. In the background facing left is a group of soldiers carrying a French flag with holes in it. Behind the group of soldiers is a series of churches above which is labeled "Les Eglises de France". On the facing right side is the word "METZ" and below is a schematic city. Surrounding the image is a vegetal border pattern on a yellow background with the French flag entwined around the vines.
