Solid gold hexagonal medal is decorated with green and red enamel and inscribed with the high title “Mahathraysithu” in Burmese script. The medal comes with its original gold pin, dark green ribbon, velvet cushion, and hinged wooden box. Nang Rives’ father, U Kya Bu, received this medal in 1952 to acknowledge his role as an original signatory of the Panglong Agreement in 1947, which effectively ended British colonial rule and formed the independent Union of Burma. U Kya Bu was also a member of the first Burmese delegation to the United Nations in 1951 and was the only one to be invited for tea by then First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt.51.
