Description
Inscriptions/Signature

A clean-shaven man in a crisp black military uniform and a heavily decorated cap (identified as British Admiral David Beatty) gazes out from the prow of a ship; the bottom half of his body is concealed behind the steel surface. A seascape behind him extends under intermittent black clouds into the horizon, where the silhouettes of three other ships are visible. In 1916, Admiral Beatty took command of the British Grand Fleet, playing a primary role in the naval battles throughout the closing years of WWI.
