Description

Occupying the middle ground and receding at a diagonal from the viewer, a one-story arcade topped by a red Spanish-style clay tile roof connects to a larger two story structure, in front of which is a large bell. [Building complex identified as Mission San Miguel]. Beyond the complex stretches a range of outlying mountains or hills. The top half of the composition is defined by sky, the lower half by wild grasses.
