Description

Black and white. A “picturesque” scene: a mountain stream cascades toward the lower left hand corner of the picture, into the foreground. The streambed is cluttered with large rocks and tree trunks that have fallen into, and across the stream; several trees still stand prominently on the edge of the stream, in the center middle ground, on the picture’s right side. Shrouded in the background is a cloud/mist covered mountain, strikingly marked by a white ‘cross.’ Photochrom is based on a painting or reproductive print of a painting, rather than a photograph of the actual view.
