Man sitting in grass on right, talking with a woman standing on the left. The woman is leaning against a tree trunk. In the background is a grove of trees. In this painting we have an interesting combination of the almost impressionistic background combined with two figures quite plastically rendered. Far to the left are the two cows which the farm girl has finished milking. The girl, standing by her milking stool, pauses to speak to the seated man who occupies himself with whittling on a stick.
