In the foreground, a stream winds through the center of a dense, rock landscape with tumbles of large boulders. Beyond, a faintly-etched rainbow arches across the feet of high mountains whose tops extend into swirling clouds. In this state, the bottom half of the print is heavily-worked, with densely-hatched areas of shadow, but the top portion of the image is less finished and the forms of the mountains, clouds, and rainbow are conveyed mostly through contour.
