Kneeling, life-size kimono-clad figure cast in two pieces-top and bottom--from colorless, translucent glass. The figure wears a wide obi belt that creates a flourish of drapery at the back, and is tied with a twisted cord, seen at the front. The figure’s right arm extends forward, away from the body, as if offering tea in the ceremony for which the sculpture was named. The expanse of fabric that pools at the back of the sculpture seems to cover the extended legs of the kneeling figure.
