One from a series of ten unique books in the "Common Threads" series. A small, soft book form with rounded edges, blue and white mottled covers, and dark denim spine. Four interior "pages", all made of double-layered canvas. Text stitched onto the front "cover" reads "Composition" in black thread on white embroidered ground. The interior pages are stitched with 19 horizontal bands of light blue thread and one vertical band of red thread, to resemble lined notebook paper.

Opening 1: At left, a "bookplate" with bookworm reads "This book belongs to... CANDACE." At right, text at top and bottom and a paper doll chain along bottom edge.

Opening 2: At left, text in upper right corner and lower third, with a yellow banana. At right, five small opened books, with the word "TEXTBOOK" distributed across their pages.

Opening 3: At left, a black border around a white, grey and black heathered ground, behind text. At right, text in top third with a series of letters and numbers in LR quarter.

Opening 4: At left, four banners aligned vertically down the page, with rainbow at left and black border at right, encircling text. At right, a line of text through center, written backwards and in reverse to be read correctly when reflected in mirror.

Opening 5: At left, text at center. At right, artists' signature in lower right corner.
