Image of the front and back cover of a hardback book, rendered so that the book appears to have been opened and laid flat against the picture plane. The title and other text are rendered in white on black along the upper edge of the cover and in black on white along the spine piece. The back cover is illustrated with a black and white photographic image of a figure holding a gun (rifle). The figure is holding the gun at eye level, as though aiming at a target. The figure is in profile. The front cover is illustrated with a black and white photographic image of a figure holding a smaller figure against its chest. The two figures are in profile. The illustration extends across the entire cover, and reads as a male figure aiming a gun at a female figure. The female figure faces away from the male figure and is protecting the smaller figure (child?) with her body.
