Work depicts Chief Tendoy riding along a trail in what is now Yellowstone Park, with the Gallatin Mountains in the background. In the foreground there is many scrubby desert plants with Chief Tendoy riding on a trail in the middleground. Tendoy rides on a horse, pulling a pack on a pair of sticks trailing behind him.
