Description

The cylindrical ivory container (2007.3088.a) has a wooden lid (2007.3088.b). The ivory appears to be a segment of tusk, with a scene carved in relief consisting of palm trees and small houses in the background with an elephant on one side and an antelope with a baby antelope on the other side. It is screwed onto a wooden base. The lid is conical with vertical lines incised toward a round knob at the top. The lid resembles the roofs of the houses behind the antelopes.
