This oboe-like instrument (2007.0549.a) has a brass mouthpiece, brass bell and dark red-brown wooden shaft. The shaft has seven fingerholes, each in a constriction, and the shaft flares between, above, and below the fingerholes. There are incised bands at the distal end of the shaft, above the bell.

The brass mouthpiece has a flat disc at the top and bottom and two globular segments. The brass bell fits around the end of the shaft, with a raised ridge at the end, and flares sharply.

There are three double reeds (2007.0549.b-d).
