The papercut depicts a Beijing Opera character identified as Zhang Fei, with a white face but heavy black detail around the eyes and mouth and a straight black beard. There is bright pink detail around the mustache and gray feather-like decoration above each eye. The elaborate headdress has a yellow band with dark pink and light green detail and scalloped edges. There is a blue band behind with a pink flower, a pink band and a large dark pink projection with purple, blue and light green detailing. There is a pink and white striped circle and light green circle at the top. The four red tassel-like decorations at the top have blue-green trailers with wave-like edges. Black fin-like projections are present near each eye and there are pink and purple projections under the ears, next to the beard.
