The small round basket has a wooden handle that continues through the bottom of the basket. The wooden rim runs perpindicular to the handle. These two elements are held together with a nail and a woven diamond pattern. The horizontal elements are thicker, and the vertical elements are woven around them, giving a striated appearance. It is sometimes called a "melon basket."
