Description

Photograph of a man in three quarter profile. He wears a large headdress made from brown and white eagle feathers extending up and back. There is a row of quillwork at the forehead and strips of dark cloth and ribbons on either side of the head. He wears a buckskin jacket with large panels of beadwork down both sides of the front and on both sleeves. Also down the front of the jacket and on both sleeves are long fringes made from black horsehair. Around his neck, he wears a white kerchief and a large metal celt in the shape of a stylized bird. In his proper left hand he holds a pipe with a large catlinite bowl at the end.
