Square tapestry shawl. Wool paisley shawl of olive and bunt red. Small black center. The border is woven separately and attached, rather than woven into the main structure, in emulation of the practices of Kashmiri weavers. Its alternating blocks of color also mimic the style of Kashmiri or north-Indian textiles. This also offered flexibility to the makers, who could choose from various borders to apply to each finished shawl.
