Blocks of sixteen, multicolored/patterned pieces, alternating with squares of red and white calico. Border of printed chintz, red background with blue flowers. Lining of homespun, now pinkish tan color. Border is split at corners to allow for posts of bed. Made with chintzes and calicoes from the early decades of the 19th century, this large quilt was probably intended for a four-poster bed.
