Machine sewn quilt in turkey red with white reverse appliqué. White, 8-pointed stars on top of small red squares. Red border with a white square in each corner. White stars with red borders make this unusual design. They are arranged diagonally as a nine-patch, giving the further illusion of white crosses. This quilt shows the early use of the sewing machine in quilting.
