The rattle has a relatively small globular head and a wooden handle. The head is made from a gourd, and it is held in place with leather strips running vertically. The wide red and white strips are painted between the leather. There is a band of red resin at the joint between the head and handle. The handle has a conical shape at the joint, tapering to a straight segment and ending in a small knob. There is a small leather loop at end of the handle and a small amount of horse hair tassel remains.
