The small stringed instrument (2007.2973.a) has a hemispherical resonating chamber covered with a light colored leather with small holes. The wooden surface of the chamber is decorated with a band of "X's", with dots in the negative space around a centrally placed medallion design with a floral design. The back of the neck is decorated with a thin band of "V's" opposite the string-side, ending at a single peg, and a stripe of dots along either side. The distal end is decorated with a horse head. There is one string of black horse hair that is strung through a triangular piece of wood then across the chamber.

The wooden bow (2007.2973.b) has a short, straight handle with a peg at the base of the arch. The remainder of the bow has a slight arch to it. The bowstring is knotted through a small hole at the end and knotted at the end of the short handle.

Both pieces are light colored wood, though there are very dark streaks in the grain. Both pieces are lacquered.
