Photograph of two men in front of a painted backdrop. On the facing left is a seated man who is wearing a headress made from brown and white eagle feathers that extends up and back from his head, then extends down to the floor. He wears a chest decoration made from thin bone beads that extends from his neck to his waist. He has a dark blanket draped over his lap. Across his knees he holds a long pipe with a catlinite head and in his proper left hand, he holds a beaded pipe bag with quillwork and fringes at the bottom. On the facing right there is a standing man wearing a dark wide brimmed hat, and a dark coat and trousers. In between the two men there is a lance propped against the wall that is decorated with striped hawk feathers.
