Inscriptions/Signature

Photograph of a woman and young girl standing in front of a painted backdrop of a staircase and columns. The woman is on the facing left side and the girl stands on the facing right side holding the woman's hand. The woman wears a dark wool dress decorated with rows of dentalium shells extending down from the collar and almost to her waist. Around her waist is a fringed blanket decorated with bands of geometric designs. Around her neck is a wide necklace with a panel at the bottom, made from long thin bone beads. In her proper right hand she holds a beaded bag with a row of quillwork and long fringes at the bottom. The girl is wearing a light colored cotton dress with a ruffle at the bottom, dark stockings, and dark leather shoes. Around her neck is a wide beaded necklace with a beadwork panel at the bottom.
