The five stringed instrument has a wooden neck and hide covered resonating chamber. The chamber is shaped a little like a turtle shell, and covered with two pieces of cowhide which are stitched together. The top is dark brown, the bottom is dark brown and white. There is one small hole in the top of the chamber. The wooden neck curves upward, with five pegs. Each string of animal skin is twisted tightly, stretching from a peg to the chamber.
