The long dark blue vest is made of cotton. The construction is a front to back panel, divided in front, and two side panels that join the vertical panel resulting in long arm holes. The shoulders of the vest are covered in yellow, dark blue, and light purple vertical stripes. The collar has stripes of light purple, medium purple, black, and red that wrap around the neck and down the chest. The side panels are dark blue fabric, heavily embroidered with white thread using a technique known as sashiko in an all-over diamond pattern.
