The stringed instrument has a long, dark brown handle, and a half coconut shell on one end. There are two wooden pegs through the end closest to the coconut shell. The shell itself is tied on with a leather strip and has a metal coil inside. The narrow end, opposite the pegs, has a metal finial that curves to one side which is decorated with a stylized horse head or possibly a bird of paradise flower. The wire, now broken, apparently stretched from the decorated end to the the wooden pegs, opposite the coconut shell.
