Inscriptions/Signature

The standing figure is identified as Ogre katsina, with a smaller figure identified as Koyemsi, in a basket on the back.

Ogre katsina has a black head with brown feathers along the back and top of the head and red ears. There is a white bird track on the forehead and a white Hopi friendship symbol on each cheek. It has popout eyes and a long black snout. It has a black torso, arms and legs. There are brown ovals with white dots on the chest. It has a blue and white painted necklace. There are blue, red and yellow bands on the upper arms. The forearms have brown bands with white dots. The proper left wrist has a blue and black band and the hand holds a white and blue staff. The proper right wrist has a painted black tie and the hand holds a grey blade. Both hands are white with black lightning symbols. It has a black loincloth with a red and blue border. The sash on the right side has green, blue, red, white, and black geometric designs. The shins have brown bands with white dots. It has red-brown moccasins. The figure is carrying mudhead katsina in a light brown basket with a buckskin strap around the shoulders and chest.

Mudhead katsina is a brown figure with knobs on the top, sides and back of the head. The knobs each have a brown feather attached to the ends. It has black dots for eyes and a mouth. It has a black painted kerchief and black painted ties around both wrists. The hands are white and the arms and hands are relief carved around the waist. The figure ends at the waist.
