The nearly round fan blade has a slightly curved wooden handle. The fan blade is decorated with bands of color, separated wtih narrow bands of paper and string. The center circle of black velvet has a carved wooden lizard-like head with its mouth open. The head is the where the handle attaches, and it is present on both sides. The bands emanating from the center circle are pink, dark blue with whtie dots, red velvet, yellow brocade and a short fringe of plant fiber. The narrow bands of paper and string are faded green, orange, pink and blue.
